    Blowmoulders and bottle design

Since 1995, Kosme Austria has specialized in the development and assembly of stretch blow molding machines. In 2000, the company expanded its capabilities by establishing a mold manufacturing facility. With over 25 years of experience, Kosme Austria is your go-to contact for comprehensive services in machine, bottle, and mold design.

Kosmes production systems are designed for low energy consumption, particularly in the heating and stretch blow molding processes. This not only reduces operational costs but also supports sustainable manufacturing practices.

Kosme Blow Moulders offer high working flexibility and exceptional repetition precision, ensuring consistent quality in every production cycle. With excellent accessibility, our systems are designed for straightforward operation and maintenance, minimizing downtime and maximizing productivity

The current machine portfolio features two types of machines, each with fundamentally different concepts and focusing on distinct features:

    • Linear Design Concept
      Linear Design Concept

This concept excels in blowing large containers and effortlessly handling nearly all preforms available on the market. The key features of the linear machines named 1XXL, 2XL, and 2XXL are:

      • Possible container volumes range from 2.5 to 30 liters.
      • Maximum possible output of 3000 containers per hour.
      • Machines are available with either 1 or 2 cavities.

    • Rotary Design Concept
      Rotary Design Concept

The engineering focus of the rotary design is on maximum output and a compact design. The current rotary lineup includes two platforms: the small platform XRs with up to 5 cavities and the larger platform XR with up to 8 cavities

      • Possible container volumes range from 0.5 to 11 liters.
      • Maximum possible output of 20000 containers per hour.
      • Small platform XRs for 2,4 and 5 cavities.
      • Big platform XR for 6 and 8 cavities.

    Design Development

Kosme Austria not only manufactures blow molders but also provides bottle design development services. This process is carried out in close collaboration with the customer and or designers. Starting with an initial idea or design concept, a customized bottle design is developed to meet the specific needs of the customer. This design also ensures that all critical criteria for a seamless blowing process in the future production line are met. Upon request, a pilot mold for producing customer-specific sample bottles can be fabricated. These bottles undergo rigorous testing in an in-house laboratory to ensure they meet the required performance standards before the serial production of the blow molds commences. The molds are produced in Kosme's mold production facility within a very short timeframe.

Krones plans to reorganize its Compact Class business unit

In light of the ongoing transformation in the beverage and liquid food industry, as well as increasing demands for sustainable, competitive, and efficient products, Krones is realigning its profitable growth strategy in the Compact Class business unit. This unit brings together Krones’ solutions for filling and packaging in the low to medium output range for beverages, wine and spirits, food, dairy products, as well as applications in the home and personal care sector and pharmaceuticals.

The Compact Class consists of four different subsidiaries: KOSME Italy, KOSME Austria, the sales and service company KOSME FBA (responsible for the markets in France and Belgium), which have been fully integrated into the Krones Group since 2009, and the labelling machine specialist Gernep, which was acquired in 2015. These entities will now be brought together under one roof – the new KOSME organisation.

The starting point for this integration was the joint development of a new labeling machine generation called Flectra  over the course of the last 12 months, which uniquely combines the expertise of both Kosme and Gernep: compact, flexible, and intuitive. The machine will be showcased and offered for sale for the first time live at this year’s drinktec in Munich (starting September 15, 2025).

The newly formed organization will be even more flexible in responding to customer needs, positioning itself as a strong unit in the face of competition, and strategically tapping into new markets and industries – both nationally and internationally. As part of this realignment, a completely new brand identity will also be developed in 2026.
